Casino

Okay, okay, so we did go to a casino while we were in Las Vegas. The Bellagio. We took the monorail there, or as close as we could get. But we didn't gamble or see a show. As I've mentioned before, that's not my thing. We went to see the Conservatory and Botanical Gardens. Kim loves to visit there whenever she's in town.

The hotel has created an area off the lobby which recalls iron and glass conservatories of the Victorian era. Their horticulture staff of 120 designs thematic installations using flowers and plants appropriate to the season. The display we saw was called Flights of Fancy. It reminded me a little of a stationary Rose Parade.

I don't have much to write about the installation, other than it was very colorful and very beautiful. I think a few photos will tell the story best.

Butterflies and balloons.

Hummingbird.

Peacock in a balloon. Dig that tail!

Nests.

Some flowers not masquerading as something else.

Finally, a permanent installation on the ceiling over the concierge station (not in the conservatory) by Dale Chihuliy. Another one of Kim's favorites.
